WTC San Diego hosted event on September 8 to commemorate September 11 attacks
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, USA - WTC San Diego (WTCSD) hosted a commemoration on September 8 with the theme of “Peace, Prosperity and Diversity through Trade” in recognition of the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001.
The free public event was held at the Port Pavilion and featured exhibits by more than 80 local companies involved in global trade. There also was a Commemoration Walk and a special commemorative program including a military flyover, flag salute, moment of silence, singing of the national anthem, and presentations by local dignitaries. The program concluded with a concert by Jefferson Starship.
Bella Heule, president and CEO of WTCSD, said, “As part of WTCA, WTCs have promoted the organization’s principle that we can achieve peace and prosperity through trade and investment. We would like to pause to recognize the people who lost their lives, and renew and affirm our belief that international trade and investment can bring prosperity through connections with new trading partners across diverse cultures, laying the groundwork for better understanding among nations.”
The event was produced in partnership with the Port of San Diego. The Port Pavilion featured WTCSD member companies, which have grown their businesses on every continent, as well as a live broadcast by local radio station KyXy 96.5 CBS Radio.
